What a difference a week makes!

One week ago, I knew a enough to take some decent photos. I’ve had my DSLR for nearly a year now and I’m really happy with how far I’ve come with it. When I signed up for a new photography class over at Scrap Girls, I knew it was just what I needed to take the next step in my skill level and to really get serious about knowing what I was doing behind the lens.

Last Thursday was our first class. The focus was on lighting and how to achieve good lighting. Ever since then, my mind has been racing with how to get good lighting in our home, what new toys/tools I want to get and countless of other questions I had for our awesome instructor and fellow classmates.

Like any class, we had a homework assignment for the week. It was to learn where in our house different types of lighting appeared and how to use them when we take photos. In particular, using the front door open to have natural lighting on our subjects and playing with all that goes with that.

Well, I decided that since it was a bit cold to have our front door wide open (and the fact that our house faces South), I would take advantage of the 2 large sliding glass doors we have that face the East. So, I caught some decent light this morning thanks to the overcast skies, and these were my results. Major props to Tyson for being a happy, cooperative subject this morning. Amazing what a little bit of bribery can do!;-)  Here are some of my favorites, but if you want to see all of them, you can see them here.

This is my new favorite photo of him I think.

And…we’ve lost him!
